One of my specializations is in working with those who suffer from trauma, abuse histories, and post-traumatic stress (PTSD). I am certified in EMDR by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).

Numerous studies have been done on EMDR and have consistently found it to be among the top of all trauma therapies. EMDR can also be very effective in helping those who suffer from a history of childhood difficulties and a lack of proper nurturing. Examples include growing up with family members who suffer from mental illness, in an alcoholic family, with overly critical parents, or in a family that had an overabundance of conflict and arguments.

Studies to date show EMDR to have a high level of effectiveness with the following conditions:

  • Anxiety or panic attacks
  • Sexual abuse and/or physical abuse
  • Debilitating fears
  • Trauma-related depression
  • Surviving childhood abuse
  • Performance and test anxiety
  • Surviving a rape
  • Surviving an assault or robbery
  • Surviving an accident
  • Witnessing violence
  • Low self-esteem
  • Childhood trauma
  • Loss or injury of a loved one
